Alice in Wonderland Pop-up card

Here's an Alice in Wonderland themed card I made for a pop-up assignment for TAFE. Apparently the full-time students made a whole story book, but since we don't even get half the same amount of class time, we just needed to make a card (which I spent hours on at home anyway lol!)

Notes:

  • Yes, I realise the 'A' on the bottom right of the card should be upside down, couldn't fix the mistake :(
  • The Alice is based on the Nintendo DS Alice
The teapot and cup are a bit messy but were made with watercolour
  • The background is gouache
  • Alice's headband is made with glitter
The "Bonne Fete" i.e. the green bit on the back of the card doesn't really match but looks a lot better than what was handed in!
  • The blue swirls with the key and stamp is an envelope for a message

Pencil case from my old jeans XD !!!

Ahh, it's been almost a month since the previous post, my bad >.< been concentrating on Curious Chopstix but while I'm waiting for Penguin to return I can do a bit of crafting ^^ And I also figured out how to use this watermarking software XD

I've actually made a few things and gone to two card workshops since the last post, but something I just made a few days ago was this pencil case XD I thought about making a pencil case when I started going to Chinese school again because just FYI, a plastic bag is not a pencil case!!

To save sewing some stitches and to recycle...

R-E-C-Y-C-L-E recycle!!!

Very catchy song =D!!!

...I used an old pair of jeans. It meant I couldn't have the lace horizontal which was a shame but I figured something else out :)

This side is white lace and an onigiri made from felt. I also found some random iron-on swirls which I think spell out an 'H', but I somehow ironed it on a bit crooked and stitched the flower in... I actually lost the flower while moving the pencil case around but found it on my bedroom floor, as I was handsewing part of my pencil case in my room :P.

The other side is pink lace and buttons + flowers. This time I stitched it all in, which I didn't do for the diary. It makes it more stable and you don't get glue-y bits showing, but you need to space it carefully as two of my buttons are too close to one another >.<

I also gave the lace and H some extra stitching, originally the lace was only stitched at the ends!!

I added a zipper and then added a loose inner lining afterwards (I know, I know, I'm making it all backwards here!) to protect the stitching for the embellishments. Originally I was going to make the opening with velcro or buttoned... or tied with string but thought I'd better practise with zippers :).

On another note, I've finally attended an anime convention =D surprising since I was such an anime fan back then, still am in a way :) although I do have this k-drama addiction -_- And here are some of the goodies ^^

P.S. The pink and black head dress was handmade by my friend Frejya! ^^

And the Harry Potter exhibition is going to be at the Powerhouse Museum in November, so exciting!!! :) I did get to see Matthew Lewis who plays Neville Longbottom as well some objects that will be on display which will do till November :)

hello, my name is...

Anyway, Monday Mob has started some team bonding sessions where each week someone will introduce themselves and talk about their interests or anything they want really. I was somehow chosen to be second (after the day leader's talk too -_-)!!!

I thought that I might slip in a little about my interest in cardmaking so I prepared some cards the morning before to showcase my interest and here they are :)... [Took me about an hour and a half including the photography. ;)]

Random-'have a nice day' card :)

Birthday card 1

+ the inside using the paper tape I just bought - lace pattern

Birthday card 2 (the photo didn't turn out well in the light outdoors because of the light colour and all the shiny sequins!)

My brother liked this card but he said the bird needed a rhinestone eye.

Note: Actually, I haven't presented my piece yet, we ran out of time the first week, and the second week was the holiday period so there are more things to discuss at the meeting... which tempts me to make more cards lol :)

joint party ribbons

Occasion: Birthday

Inspiration:

1. matching cards
2. ribbon
3. effect of stampnig on patterned paper

Made these cards as a pair last year as I was attending a joint birthday party! I remember trying to look for parking and then getting sick the next day, as this was the start of start of Winter! Other than that, it was a nice catch up with the engos :)

Diana

This card is basically just white with a pink edged border, a pink and blue ribbon which ties it to the other card, Happy Birthfay sticker, pearl embellishments, shooting star sticker (it's on a white backing so can only work on white cards) and images stamped onto patterned paper. I think the dots give it an interesting effect, though the butterfly sometimes looks upside-down.

Gilbert

Similar to the previous card... white cardboard and edged in blue ink, same sticker and there's some ribbon too. There is a patterned piece of blue paper covered in two blue ribbons. The top ribbon has a star cutout of the same paper and another ribbon tied into a knot. Knots creat nice effects and are good when you don't have enough ribbon or just find ribbon tying troublesome.

life's a cake, so why not jump in?

Occasion: Birthday

Inspiration
1. Garek looks like a monkey
2. It would be funny if I threw cake at Garek
3. the cute jungle stickers I bought

This is the first card I posted in the mail =D I decided to send this card to my friend because I'd already decided to buy him a set of funny post-its for graduation (as he was going on to do a thesis-or something... elsewhere), but after a bit of a mishap, it ended up being a birthday gift!

Materials:
-Ribbon from the dollar store :P
-Scrapbook paper: Grace Taylor Contempo Collection from Big W
-Happy Birthday sticker (I also used the bits and pieces to stick around the ribbon, you know, the sticker parts such as the hole in the 'a')
-cute monkey sticker

I've started using less ribbon when gift wrapping these days, just in case I think it will be needed on a card XD

butterfly field

Occasion: Birthday

Totally love this butterfly holepunch!!

Materials:
-holepunches: butterfly, star
-stickers: Happy Birthday and leaves
-stamps: sullivans clear stamps, studio g
-blue rhinstones and white pearls
-bubble crystal stickers, the one at the bottom actually has a hole in the top so I cut that part off
-pink pattern: it's actually one of those free postcards you can get everywhere (Avant card)
