Elephantina

One of the cards I made at the second craft session, the previous one I made with the elephant hot air balloon was so cute I wanted to keep it, so I made another one. Turns out it was super girly so I ended up giving the original away as it was a blue/grey design.

Christmas cards for 2011!

I started planning out some Christmas cards and came up with a few designs, some which worked and some which er... didn't! My sister thought up a really cool hot air balloon related one but I'll save that for next year XD

Designs for classmates - and a test run of my new stamp with embossing

A card I made for some relos, so basically it's just strips of green pattern, I modge podged it so it'd stay together and then cut out triangles. The final design was stuck on cardstock with buttons as baubles. I can't find a copy of the final designs photos but I made these right before my trip!

 Asian style card.

Some of the plans I drew up for the cards and some pieces which didn't get made into cards.

The main bulk of my cards were in this style. So I had a new sheet music stamp with a Christmas carol, and it either became the background or the pattern for the tree.

Cruise Highlights

I went on a P&O Cruise in early December with some friends and it was quite fun. Here are some of the highlights and cool stuff from the trip. It was about a week long with 3 island stops in New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

Towel animals made by staff and passengers, the oens with the blue lines were from the cabin.

butterfly dancing

Craft

Made a few changes to the flower card I made a few days ago as I thought it was missing something! I realise I did actually make it incorrectly according to the instructions, you're supposed to cut strips from the card (that are next to each other) at different lengths so that the "flower garden" looks a lot fuller.

I added two butterfly stickers, these are made for cardmaking so have a clear backing and they're really nice!!

I added a tinkerbell sticker to the bottom, it's hard to spot!

Also found a cute quote online to add as a P.S.

Some cooking adventures!
Made some M&Ms cookies for the birthday girl. I substituted half the M&Ms with choc chips because (1) I wanted to eat the M&Ms and (2) thought I might as well finish the pack of choc chips! Tip: If you're using crispy M&Ms, the chocolates will stick to your teeth if you eat the cookies hot!

I also made some Coca Cola flavoured jelly, as Aeroplane Jelly have a new product where instead of just cold water, you use 200ml of a soft drink or fruit juice, and I had a spare mini Coke can which was just the right size! :)

Nom nom spotting for the day ^^

three ways to say goodbye (avant card special)

it's been a while since my last post... :( 'cause I was taking forever to edit this post ;)

One of the teachers at the Chinese school was leaving, so my sister asked me to make a farewell cards for each class to write in.

I sketched a few ideas... (ideas are things that look good on paper but don't necessarily translate that well off the drawing board) and then started creating!! :)

1/3

and before adding the finishing touches...

The sketchboard idea was basically an origami flower which I kept, I've made a similar card before but I wanted a patterned background in this card. I couldn't be bothered looking through all my scrapbooking paper and I don't really like cutting it up too much... so looked through my postcards and found this really cute one advertising Taronga Zoo. Filled in the spaces as well with swirls and words and things :)

2/3

So here's my idea and somehow it became very different to the final card... ;)

This one I grabbed the idea from the postcards I had as I was sorting because the school went on an excursion to the art gallery to see 'The First Emperor', an exhibition on China's emtombed warriors. I just bought some Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels) and decided to see how it looked so sprayed it on the cardboard which ended up a bit damp so had to let it dry overnight before working on the card.

3/3

Since this was the first idea I drew up (out of about six), I wanted to make sure I used the design...

...in the top left corner the four-leaf clover didn't turn out :( so had to cover it up :P

The big pink button is actually covering up a picture of a woman jumping,

I should also title this post: button special as they all have buttons :)

In the end, one of my farewell cards didn't get used... obviously the Asian one was chosen and the other was the flower field one so I still have my origami flower one here. So that card has the special status of being a part of my 'getting to know you' presentation at the museum :P
